Yamaguchi Prefecture and the JR Group announced the ‘Yamaguchi Destination Campaign’, a large-scale tourism initiative scheduled to run from October 1 to December 31, 2026. Using the catchphrase ‘Manpuku no Tabi: Oidemase Fuku no Kuni, Yamaguchi’, the campaign seeks to promote the region’s history, hot springs, culinary offerings, and natural scenery.

The initiative covers Yamaguchi Prefecture and parts of Shimane Prefecture, including Masuda City and Tsuwano Town. A major highlight is the return of the C57 class steam locomotive, known as ‘Lady’, which will operate on the SL Yamaguchi line on weekends for the first time in six years. Other featured services include the ‘Hanaakari’ luxury sightseeing train and the ‘WEST EXPRESS Ginga’ overnight train. To support travel, the campaign will offer expanded sightseeing passes and promotional events in cities such as Hiroshima, Osaka, and Fukuoka.
