In early October 2026, the county launched a civic movement to attract an eco-friendly horse racing park. This proposal involves repurposing the Yongmunsan Shooting Range, a military facility that has operated for approximately 40 years. Proponents suggest that replacing the shooting range with a racing park would create a new hub for leisure and tourism, noting that the site is significantly larger than the Gwacheon Racecourse and consists of state and public property. Concurrently, the county has entered into a three-year business agreement, running from October 2026 to October 2029, to promote stay-over tourism. This strategy links public sports facilities and athletic events with local lodging resources. To encourage longer visits and increased local spending, the program offers incentives such as simplified access to the Yangpyeong Park Golf Course for guests of partner accommodations and rebates on lodging fees provided through Yangpyeong Love Gift Certificates. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-06: Yangpyeong County links sports facilities and lodging to boost tourism Yangpyeong County is launching a stay-over tourism initiative by linking public sports facilities with local accommodations to boost regional spending and economic activity. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/yangpyeong-county-links-sports-facilities-and-lodging-to-boost-tourism ### 2026-09-07: Yangpyeong County launches movement to attract horse racing park Yangpyeong County has formed a civic promotion group to advocate for the establishment of an eco-friendly horse racing park at the site of the Yongmunsan Shooting Range. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/yangpyeong-county-launches-movement-to-attract-horse-racing-park --- Cite as: Yangpyeong County regional development initiatives.
