Midfielder Yari Verschaeren has addressed his summer departure from RSC Anderlecht to join the Italian side Sampdoria. Verschaeren stated that although the Belgian club offered a contract renewal, he viewed the proposal as a mere “courtesy” gesture.

The 25-year-old explained that despite a willingness to accept a salary reduction, he felt the club no longer counted on him, a situation he described as personally hurtful. Since his move to Italy, Verschaeren has appeared in five matches and recorded one assist as he works to relaunch his career.
