The fifth edition of the Yeast Photo Festival, themed ‘A Matter of Taste’, is held in Galatina, Salento, from September 11 to November 8, 2026. Curated by Edda Fahrenhorst and organized by the associations BESAFE and On The Move, the festival uses food as a lens to examine global issues including the climate crisis, war, inequality, and migration.

Exhibitions throughout the historic center feature various international works, such as Forough Alaei’s ‘Daughters of the Sea’, which documents Iranian women fishers; Koral Carballo’s ‘Memories of tender bonds’ regarding an Afro-descendant community in Mexico; and Saher Alghorra’s photography of famine and destruction in the Gaza Strip.

Programmed activities include a bread sculpture workshop and a discussion titled ‘A Matter of Health: Ethics, Taste, and the Future of the Mediterranean Diet’, featuring participants such as Paolo Pastore, chef Domingo Schingaro, and Denise Caricato.
