Yemeni leadership has initiated efforts to reform and modernize the national education system, focusing on infrastructure, curriculum quality, and the integration of displaced students. In September 2026, Prime Minister Dr. Shayea Mohsen al-Zindani visited the Ministry of Education in Aden, calling for a ‘real revolution in education’ that emphasizes technological advancement and support for teaching staff. He specifically directed officials to ensure that displacement does not prevent students from continuing their studies. By October 2026, Minister of Education Dr. Adel Abdulmajeed Al-Abadi expanded these efforts through regional and inter-ministerial coordination. This included planning field assessments in the Abyan governorate to address teacher requirements and school infrastructure. Additionally, the Ministry of Education met with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to discuss better aligning general education with university studies to prepare students for the labor market. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-20: Yemen Education Ministers discuss sector development and regional support Yemeni Education Minister Adel Abdulmajeed Al-Abadi met with officials to discuss improving school infrastructure in Abyan and enhancing coordination between general and higher education sectors. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/yemen-education-ministers-discuss-sector-development-and-regional-support ### 2026-09-22: Yemen Prime Minister visits Ministry of Education in Aden Yemeni Prime Minister Shayea Mohsen al-Zindani visited the Ministry of Education in Aden, directing officials to integrate displaced students into schools and prioritize educational reforms and curriculum تطوير 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/yemen-prime-minister-visits-ministry-of-education-in-aden --- Cite as: Yemen education sector development efforts.
