In early October, Yemeni Foreign Minister Afrah Al-Zouba met with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi. The discussions centered on bilateral relations, the activation of political consultation mechanisms, and the security situation in Yemen. Both parties emphasized the necessity of protecting maritime freedom in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab strait amidst Houthi militia military escalations. Jordan reaffirmed its support for the legitimate Yemeni government in restoring sovereignty and territorial integrity. Later in the month, Yemeni Minister of Water and Environment Tawfiq al-Sharjabi met with the European Union Ambassador to Yemen, Patrick Simon. This meeting focused on environmental cooperation, climate change adaptation, and water security. The discussions reviewed ongoing EU-funded projects and sought to align future climate financing and development support with Yemen’s national priorities, noting that existing programs continue despite regional escalations. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-21: Yemen Water Minister discusses environmental cooperation with EU Ambassador Yemen's Water and Environment Minister Tawfiq al-Sharjabi met with the EU Ambassador in Amman to discuss climate financing, water security, and environmental cooperation projects. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/yemen-water-minister-discusses-environmental-cooperation-with-eu-ambassador ### 2026-10-04: Yemen and Jordan discuss bilateral ties and regional security Yemeni and Jordanian foreign ministers met in Amman to strengthen bilateral ties and discuss regional stability, maritime security in the Red Sea, and support for Yemen's sovereignty. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/yemen-and-jordan-discuss-bilateral-ties-and-regional-security --- Cite as: Yemeni diplomatic and developmental engagements in Jordan.
