Yıldırım Municipality in Bursa is implementing various social, environmental, and economic initiatives. The municipality has established environmental and zero waste programs, such as ‘Plastiksiz Yıldırım’ and ‘Paratık Yıldırım,’ which serve as models for other local governments in the Bursa region. These efforts include waste reduction, recycling, and specialized facilities for waste sorting and stray animal food production.

To support local industries, the municipality operates an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center. Since 2021, this center has provided vocational and technical training in fields such as software, 2D and 3D design modeling, web design, e-commerce, accounting, and CNC applications. These programs aim to supply qualified personnel to the textile, automotive, and machinery sectors. To date, the center has trained 12,000 individuals, resulting in the employment of 1,125 people. Mayor Oktay Yılmaz stated that these employment-oriented projects are designed to support the social and economic lives of citizens.

Furthering economic empowerment, the municipality launched the Home-Based Women's Employment Program through the Yıldırım Municipality Cooperativism Development Center (KOGEM) and the Directorate of Women and Family Services. This initiative allows women with family responsibilities to generate income via home-based production. Currently active across 15 neighborhoods, the program has seen participation from 88 women. Mayor Yılmaz noted that the municipality prioritizes strengthening women's labor and intends to expand the program to reach a wider demographic.
