Regional sports activities and competitions continue across Romania and Moldova, focusing on both international martial arts success and local youth engagement. In late September 2026, youth initiatives were highlighted during the European Week of Sport. In Săcueni, Romania, 123 children participated in the #BeActive program, which included table tennis, cycling, and a pentathlon designed to promote inclusion for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Meanwhile, Chișinău, Moldova, hosted over 500 athletes in three major events: the Chișinău Open Road Cycling Championship, a tennis championship for ages U8 to senior, and a streetball tournament held in memory of Alexei Elizarov. Martial arts athletes from the region also achieved notable results in international competitions. At the Kyokushin Karate ‘Gladiator’ Tournament in Vărăști, Romania, a 13-member team from Florești, Moldova, secured podium finishes for every participant, earning five gold, four silver, and four bronze medals. Additionally, three athletes from Alba Iulia, Romania, competed in Dupnitsa, Bulgaria, representing the Romanian Taekwondo Federation. In that event, Ilinca Petric secured second place in the Cadet -51 kg category, while Andrei Grapa and Bianca Ciontea earned third-place finishes in the Junior and Cadet categories, respectively. In mid-October 2026, Moldovan sporting focus shifted toward international and municipal events. Nine young Moldovan athletes prepared to travel to Senegal for the fourth edition of the Youth Summer Olympic Games, scheduled for late October. Concurrently, Chișinău hosted several competitions to celebrate the city’s patron saint day, including the ‘Autumn Chisinau 2026’ International Badminton Tournament, a kayak-canoe Open Championship at Valea Morilor Park, an archery tournament at the Dinamo Shooting Range, a blitz checkers tournament, and a traditional karate-do championship. By late October 2026, Moldovan athletes achieved further international success.
