In Togo, youth development and educational support initiatives have expanded significantly. Following previous local efforts in Lomé by Jeunesse En Mission pour le Développement (JEMD), a large-scale national campaign has been launched to support students ahead of the 2026-2027 academic year.

Under the SWEDD+ Togo project, which is funded by the World Bank with technical support from the UNFPA, more than 150,000 girls in public primary, middle, and high schools are set to receive school kits across 1,500 localities. This second edition of the campaign, officially launched in Blitta by Dr. Sandra Ablamba Johnson, aims to reduce economic barriers to education for girls, particularly in rural and vulnerable communities. To recognize academic excellence, top-performing girls are awarded specialized kits that include bags equipped with solar panels and lighting.

Local associations continue to provide targeted aid. In the Vo 1 commune, ‘Eben Ezer Tout est Grâce’ provided kits and food to students and apprentices. Additionally, JEMD recently distributed 12,000 school supply kits to 300 young people in Adakpamé following a week-long training program focused on entrepreneurship and leadership under the ‘Programme de Vacances Utiles aux Jeunes’ (PVUJ) 2026.

In Chad, efforts to address regional electricity access through sustainable energy continue to be led by local entrepreneurs, such as Alladoum Adelin. After completing an electrical engineering degree in Lomé, Adelin is utilizing his expertise to provide solar system consulting and installation services to empower local youth and promote sustainable solutions.
