Developments: 2. The mining industry in Zacatecas, Mexico, is undergoing efforts to strengthen its economic position through industry engagement and technological modernization. In September 2026, Governor David Monreal Ávila inaugurated the Pabellón Minero Zacatecas 2026 at the National Zacatecas Fair (FENAZA). The pavilion aimed to connect the government, private companies, and academia, featuring major firms such as Newmont Peñasquito, Pan American Silver, and Fresnillo plc. The initiative sought to introduce younger generations to the sector through interactive modules and simulators. Zacatecas remains a significant producer of gold, silver, lead, and zinc. Following this, in October 2026, the Zacatecas Secretariat of Economy, the Danish Embassy, and the company FLSmidth held discussions to promote innovation and productivity. The meetings focused on exchanging technical knowledge and technological solutions to increase production efficiency. While no formal agreements or specific investment amounts were announced, the discussions highlighted opportunities for collaboration within the state’s strategic mining sector. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-01: Zacatecas officials and FLSmidth discuss mining modernization The Zacatecas Secretariat of Economy, the Danish Embassy, and FLSmidth are collaborating to modernize the state's mining industry through technological innovation and international expertise. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/zacatecas-officials-and-flsmidth-discuss-mining-modernization ### 2026-09-10: Zacatecas Governor inaugurates mining pavilion at FENAZA 2026 Governor David Monreal Ávila inaugurated the Pabellón Minero Zacatecas 2026 at FENAZA to promote the state's mining industry and its role as a leading producer of gold, silver, lead, and zinc. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/zacatecas-governor-inaugurates-mining-pavilion-at-fenaza-2026 --- Cite as: Zacatecas mining industry development.
