Following an unexpected trade from the Atlanta Hawks involving Lu Dort, Zaccharie Risacher has begun adjusting to the Dallas Mavericks. The former number one overall pick has expressed a commitment to professional routine and gym work to manage external expectations after experiencing fluctuating scoring averages in previous seasons.

During the preseason, Risacher has shown signs of settling in. In a victory against Houston, he scored 16 points, while in a preseason finale against his former team, the Hawks, he scored 18 points, notably scoring 14 of those in the second half. Head coach Dusty May indicated that Risacher is expected to be a major rotation piece, providing defensive versatility and floor spacing to complement stars such as Cooper Flagg and Kyrie Irving.
