Filmmaker Zach Cregger is advancing several film projects, including a prequel titled ‘Gladys’ and a science fiction film titled ‘The Flood’. 

Regarding ‘Gladys’, Cregger clarified that he will not write or direct the project, which is a prequel to his film ‘Weapons’. Instead, Zach Shields will serve as the sole writer, while Cregger’s role will likely be limited to producing. 

Cregger is focusing his creative efforts on ‘The Flood’, a science fiction project produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Pictures. Describing the film as a non-traditional narrative inspired by ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’, Cregger noted that while it may contain unsettling elements, it is a sci-fi film rather than a traditional horror movie. The plot follows a crew on a remote space station investigating an alien object that alters reality and time. While there were considerations for a streaming release, the project has moved to a theatrical release model, scheduled for August 11, 2028.

In addition to these projects, Cregger is involved in a new ‘Resident Evil’ film adaptation in collaboration with Sony Pictures. This project aims to capture the tension and atmosphere of the original Capcom video game franchise rather than strictly following existing characters or plots. The film will offer a unique perspective on Raccoon City, centering on a medical courier named Bryan. By utilizing a protagonist who is unprepared and lacks survival knowledge, Cregger intends to create a “more human sense of panic,” drawing inspiration from gaming elements such as resource limitations and camera perspectives.
