Political tensions in Zamora have centered on the upcoming general elections, with People's Party (PP) mayoral candidate Elvira Velasco positioning the vote as a potential catalyst for changing the local city council. Velasco criticized the current coalition government of Izquierda Unida and the PSOE, arguing that local management has failed to utilize economic conditions provided by the central government and has been negatively impacted by Pedro Sánchez’s administration.

In terms of municipal administration, the Zamora City Council has moved forward with infrastructure improvements in the San Frontis and Rabiche neighborhoods, including paving work and the creation of a playground through the ‘Soñando Parques’ program. However, a significant sidewalk renovation project in the Pinilla neighborhood, valued at 1,000,000 euros, has stalled after the tender was declared void due to a lack of bids.
