1. FC Magdeburg secures Baris Atik's future with contract extension until 2029
Baris Atik, the long‑time forward and fan favourite of 1. FC Magdeburg, has signed a new contract that runs through the summer of 2029, when he will be 34. The club announced the deal without specifying the exact length, noting Atik's 180 league appearances and involvement in 121 goals. Atik said in an Instagram post, “I can express my ideas myself and I stand on both feet in life,” and added he feels at home in Magdeburg and intends to keep playing as long as possible.
On the same day the club also reported that defender Lubambo Musonda suffered a rupture of his left Achilles tendon in training and will undergo surgery, sidelining him for several months. Musonda, a 59‑cap Zambian international, had been a regular in the back line last season.
