100 Mile House Pride Society Sign Vandalized in Hate Crime

The 100 Mile House Pride Society reported that its Pride sign on Highway 97 was severely vandalized on July 24. The wooden sign was spray‑painted, ripped apart, cut into pieces and defaced with hateful slurs. Society members called the act a deliberate hate crime against the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and urged anyone with information to contact the RCMP.

RCMP Sgt. Brian Lamb confirmed a mischief report was filed and officers are seeking witnesses. The incident occurred shortly after the society cancelled a planned Pride‑in‑the‑Park event due to regional wildfire smoke, heightening concerns about safety and community support.
