100esperte marks ten years of promoting female expertise in media
The 100esperte project, an initiative created by the Osservatorio di Pavia and the GiULiA Giornaliste association, has reached its tenth anniversary. The project provides a database of highly qualified female professionals across six disciplines, including STEM, economics, international politics, history, philosophy, sports, and geography, to assist journalists and event organizers.
During a commemorative event in Milan, Barbara Stefanelli, co-director of Corriere della Sera, noted that the presence of female experts in media has risen from 18% to 30% over the last decade. However, she characterized this progress as a slow evolution rather than a rapid revolution.
Laura Menicucci, head of the Department for Equal Opportunities at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, emphasized the need to bridge the gap between female education and leadership opportunities. She stated that ensuring professional competencies translate into decision-making roles will be a key focus of the upcoming national strategic plan for gender equality.
