1&1 launches FRITZ!Box 7620 Wi‑Fi 7 router for DSL and fiber customers
The German ISP 1&1 has introduced the FRITZ!Box 7620 as its new standard‑router, replacing the older FRITZ!Box 7520. The model implements the Wi‑Fi 7 (802.11be) standard on the 5 GHz band (up to 1.44 Gbit/s) and the 2.4 GHz band (up to 688 Mbit/s), but it does not include the 6 GHz band that carries many of Wi‑Fi 7’s advertised speed gains.
All four LAN ports are now gigabit, the previous mix of two gigabit and two 100 Mbit/s ports has been upgraded, and the USB controller has been modernised for faster storage access. The unit also supports mesh integration, DSL and fibre connections, and retains AVM’s telephone functions. The FRITZ!Box 7620 is offered only as a 1&1 HomeServer lease: €4.99 per month for new customers, plus a one‑time €49.95 activation fee and €9.90 shipping. Existing customers can obtain it via a tariff switch. Those seeking higher performance can purchase the closely related FRITZ!Box 7630.
