11th Hour Racing takes lead in The Ocean Race Atlantic
The 11th Hour Racing team, led by Francesca Clapcich, has taken the lead in The Ocean Race Atlantic. After initially holding third position during the second day of racing, the crew utilized a strategic southerly route to capitalize on strong winds from an Atlantic low-pressure system.
By day four, the team reached speeds of nearly 34 knots, allowing them to overtake Team Malizia and United by the Ocean. The crew, which includes Elodie-Jane Mettraux, Will Harris, and Alberto Bona, managed to gain ground while competitors encountered lighter winds or different tactical approaches.
As of September 5, the fleet has approximately 2,155 nautical miles remaining to reach the finish line in Lorient. While 11th Hour Racing maintains the front, other teams like MSIG Europe have faced technical difficulties, including issues with headsail furlers.
