Police Officer Killed in Hockenheimring Training Accident

A 53‑year‑old police officer from Aalen died while participating in a traffic‑safety training on the Hockenheimring on Monday evening. The officer was on duty riding a service motorcycle when he lost control in a right‑hand curve and collided with a tyre wall. Despite immediate rescue efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Interior Minister Manuel Hagel expressed deep sympathy for the officer’s family and colleagues, and the police forces in Baden‑Württemberg flew their flags at half‑mast in his honor. The incident recalls a similar fatal police motorcycle accident that occurred in Stuttgart in 2024.

The investigation into the exact cause of the crash is ongoing, led by the traffic service in Mannheim.
