13-year-old girl trapped in sand collapse at Nizhny Tagil beach, Russia

A 13‑year‑old girl disappeared on a sand beach near an abandoned quarry in the Russian city of Nizhny Tagil after part of the shoreline gave way. Witnesses say the ground collapsed beneath her, causing her to fall roughly ten metres into water where she was immediately buried by tons of sand.

Teenagers nearby filmed the chaotic aftermath as some people were swept into the water while others managed to surface. Rescue teams have been searching for three days, but heavy rain, water‑logged ground and the risk of further collapses have prevented the use of heavy machinery. The Ministry of Emergency Situations has been involved, and authorities have opened a criminal case to investigate the incident.
