13-year-old Mikołaj killed in Lake Arklicki brawl, four men arrested

A 13‑year‑old boy identified as Mikołaj died after a violent confrontation near Lake Arklicki in the Barciany municipality of Warmian‑Masurian Voivodeship, Poland. The incident occurred on the evening of 16 May, when a dispute escalated into a physical altercation that left the teenager with fatal head injuries. His body was later found in a swampy area of the lake.

Police from Kętrzyn arrested four adult men, aged 30 to 43, in connection with the beating. As Kętrzyn police spokesperson Asp. szt. Ewelina Piaścik told Polsat News, “Wczoraj około godz. 20… w jednej z miejscowości w gminie Barciany, nad jeziorem, miało dojść do awantury… w trakcie której śmierć poniósł 13‑latyk.” Three of the suspects were sober, while the youngest, a 30‑year‑old, tested positive for a blood‑alcohol level of one promile. The investigation remains ongoing under the supervision of the regional prosecutor.
