131 Aruba implements bullying prevention training in schools
The organization 131 Aruba has launched a bullying prevention project within SKOA schools to address behavioral issues among children and youth. The initiative stems from data showing that bullying is a significant factor in youth contact with the organization, consistently appearing in its top five reasons for engagement.
In 2012, a pilot project was introduced in eight primary schools following a study by CBS, which indicated that 56.5% of children reported experiencing bullying. Subsequent research by CBS conducted after the implementation of the 131 Aruba project showed a 21% reduction in bullying behavior, demonstrating the program's effectiveness. Since 2016, the organization has expanded its efforts to include specialized training for teachers to enhance their ability to manage these issues.
