13‑year‑old Cornish teen launches dairy business with a single Jersey cow
Charlie Sawle, a 13‑year‑old from St Agnes in Cornwall, has started his own dairy operation called Sid’s Dairy at Beacon Cottage Farm. Using his Jersey cow, Clare, he milks the animal each weekday after school, pasteurises the milk on‑site and sells fresh whole milk, semi‑skimmed milk, double cream and traditional Cornish clotted cream to local customers.
Sawle saved money for three years before purchasing Clare, who was born in April 2023, and completed all required food‑safety certifications to run the business legally. The venture has attracted community support, with residents eager to back the young entrepreneur and promote the next generation of farmers.
