14-Year-Old Drowns in Dorohoi Lake, Rescue Efforts Unable to Save Him
A 14‑year‑old boy drowned in the Polonic pond in Dorohoi, Botoșani County, Romania. After a 112 emergency call, fire crews from Dorohoi and Botoșani, an intensive‑care ambulance (SMURD), a county ambulance unit and a team of ISU divers were dispatched. The rescue teams located the child about 12 m from the shore at a depth of over two metres and brought him to the surface within 15 minutes. He was unconscious and received continuous cardiopulmonary resuscitation during transport to the Dorohoi Emergency Department, but he was declared dead there.
Authorities have opened an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the incident and have reminded the public to observe swimming safety rules, especially in unguarded water areas.
