A 14‑year‑old girl identified as Jaba Santa, a resident of Daldali village in Umerkote block, was found hanging from a tree about one kilometre from Batibeda Ashram School in Nabarangpur district, Odisha. She had scaled the hostel boundary wall on Saturday night and used her scarf to hang herself.
