1455 Storytelling Arts to publish anthology of youth poetry

Sean Murphy of Shenandoah University and 1455 Storytelling Arts has spent six months reviewing hundreds of poems submitted by writers aged 10 to 21. While statistics indicate high rates of depression and loneliness among American youth, Murphy found that the poetry often reflects endurance and hope rather than despair.

In June 2026, the nonprofit will publish the ‘1455 Young Poets Anthology,’ featuring work from 177 young writers. While the majority of contributors are from the United States, poets from nine other countries are also represented in the collection.
