14‑Year‑Old Boy Killed in Accidental Shooting in Bursa, Turkey

A 14‑year‑old boy (identified as M. İ.) was fatally shot in the head on a Friday in the Arifiye district of Bursa Province. The injury occurred while the teenager was visiting a family friend's home with his brother. A 15‑year‑old friend, Y. D. S., was handling a licensed handgun belonging to his retired police officer grandfather, F. S., when the trigger was unintentionally pulled.

Police investigation determined that the shot was fired from a distance rather than at close range, concluding that Y. D. S. accidentally discharged the weapon while playing with it. The friend was detained, later transferred to a court where he was sentenced to imprisonment. The gun’s owner, F. S., was released after giving a statement to investigators.
