Micael Leandro da Silva, 15‑year‑old São Paulo youth player, shot dead in Maceió

Micael Leandro da Silva, a 15‑year‑old former member of São Paulo Futebol Clube’s under‑14 and under‑15 squads, was killed on 1 August 2026 after an amateur football match in the Pontal da Barra neighbourhood of Maceió, Alagoas, Brazil. He was hit by a stray bullet during a gunfire exchange between rival drug‑related gangs; investigators say he was not the intended target.

Police in Alagoas have opened an inquiry, interviewing more than six witnesses and receiving the victim’s mobile phone from his family to aid the investigation. No suspects have been arrested and their identities have not been released. The clubs São Paulo, CSA and Retrô, with which Micael had been affiliated, issued statements of condolence and called for justice. Authorities stress that Micael had no involvement in criminal activity.
