16‑year‑old Kayra Ataman stabbed to death in Ankara park; father and son arrested

On June 10, 2024, 16‑year‑old high‑school student Kayra Ataman was fatally stabbed in the chest at a park in Etimesgut, Ankara Province. Police say the attack stemmed from a dispute after a verbally abusive incident involving a man identified as Burak E. and his 17‑year‑old son, T. E. E., who was armed with a knife. Both Burak E. and his son were apprehended shortly after the killing and placed in custody pending trial.

The victim’s body was taken to the forensic medicine institute for autopsy before being buried at Karşıyaka Cemetery following a funeral service attended by family, friends, classmates and community members. The investigation continues as prosecutors examine the alleged motive involving a personal feud over the alleged former‑girlfriend of the suspect’s son.
