Italian 17-year-old arrested in Pavia for terrorism, linked to ISIS online

A 17‑year‑old Italian girl living in the province of Pavia was detained by the police under a precautionary custody order and placed in a community after investigators linked her to participation in an association with the purpose of international terrorism. The probe, coordinated by the Prosecutor’s Office for minors in Milan and supported by the Umbria cyber‑security centre, the Digos of Perugia and Milan, and the Postal Police, stemmed from web‑monitoring of jihadist‑related virtual environments. investigators identified a virtual phone number used by the minor in four invitation‑only chat groups that support the Islamic State. Seized devices contained ISIS propaganda, recruitment material, calls for martyrdom and manuals for constructing homemade weapons, including detailed instructions for an explosive belt. Chat logs showed the girl repeatedly expressing a willingness to carry out martyrdom "in the name of Allah". The prosecutor requested her placement in a community pending further legal action.
