17-year-old fatally stabs 16-year-old Kayra Ataman in Ankara park

On 9 June in Etimesgut, Ankara, 16-year-old student Kayra Ataman was attacked in a park and fatally stabbed by 17-year-old T.E.E. The suspect told police he intended only to cut her leg. The incident followed an argument involving Kayra’s former girlfriend and the suspect’s father, Burak Ehlil, who was also detained. Both T.E.E. and his father were taken into custody after the killing.

The victim’s funeral was held at Karşıyaka Cemetery. Police investigations revealed the suspect used a kitchen knife he had taken from home, and his statements indicated a claim of self‑defence that conflicted with the lethal outcome.
