19-year-old killed in Milan scooter‑car collision
Around midnight on 11 June 2026 a 19‑year‑old passenger on an electric scooter was struck by a Kia Picanto in via dell’Innovazione, Milan. The car was driven by a 21‑year‑old woman who tested negative for alcohol and drugs. Emergency services rushed the victim to Niguarda Hospital, where he died shortly after arrival. Two other young people were lightly injured: the scooter driver, aged about 20‑21, was taken to San Gerardo Hospital in Monza, and the car driver suffered only shock.
Police investigations suggest the scooter may have failed to yield at the intersection, breaching traffic signals. No helmets were found on the scooter riders. The prosecutor ordered an autopsy and the seizure of both vehicles while the investigation continues.
A separate incident in Alghero involving a scooter and a car, resulting in non‑fatal injuries, is unrelated to this event.
