Mercedes Vito crash in Milan leaves motorcyclist critically injured, driver arrested
On the night of 25‑26 June 2026, a Mercedes Vito driven by a 37‑year‑old Ukrainian driver failed to yield at the intersection of via Carnia and via Deruta in Milan. The vehicle collided with a motorcyclist travelling on via Palmanova, then the driver fled the scene and struck a pedestrian crossing the street. Police located the van on the Tangenziale Nord near the Sesto San Giovanni barrier, where the driver was detained and charged with hit‑and‑run, omission of aid and serious injury. A breath test recorded a blood‑alcohol level of 0.91 g/L. The motorcyclist was taken to Niguarda Hospital in critical condition; the pedestrian received less serious injuries. All investigations focus on the traffic violations, the driver’s intoxication and the injuries caused.
