1984 Turin motorbike theft solved as stolen Garelli returned after 42 years

Carabinieri from Volpiano, a suburb of Turin, recovered a motorbike that had been reported stolen in 1984. The vehicle, a vintage Garelli, was identified when officers stopped a 64‑year‑old rider riding without a licence plate and performed a chassis check that revealed the bike’s stolen status. The rider was charged with receipt of stolen property by the Ivrea prosecutor’s office.

The motorbike was returned to its original owner, a 58‑year‑old man from Saluzzo who was only 16 when the theft occurred in Vado Ligure. After more than four decades, he received back his first two‑wheeler, a piece of his adolescence long thought lost.
