1Password introduces secure Claude integration and AI spend tools

1Password has launched a browser integration called 1Password for Claude that lets Anthropic’s Claude AI complete online tasks requiring logins without ever seeing the user’s passwords or one‑time codes. The system uses a “zero‑exposure” security framework: when Claude needs credentials, it requests access, the user approves via a biometric prompt, and 1Password injects the login data directly into the target page through a secure channel. Access is granted per session and scoped to the specific task, with no standing permissions.

The rollout also brings “Agentic Mode,” which automatically locks the vault whenever an AI agent controls the browser, limiting credential availability to only those explicitly approved for the current operation. The integration is available on macOS for business, family and individual plans and requires both the 1Password and Claude desktop apps and their browser extensions.

Separately, 1Password has added AI token spend‑management features to its SaaS Manager, giving organizations a unified view of AI usage across providers such as Anthropic, Cursor and OpenAI. This tool helps teams track token consumption, identify cost drivers, and avoid unexpected overages.
