2-Year-Old Loses Leg in Quadricycle Crash in Bandeirantes, Brazil

A two‑year‑old boy suffered a severe injury when a quadricycle driven by an apparently intoxicated man crashed near km 575 of BR‑163 in Bandeirantes, Mato Grosso do Sul. The child was riding as a passenger on the rear of the vehicle when it hit an object on the road, became trapped, and was exposed to leaking oil. Bystanders attempted to preserve the child's leg on ice, but the limb could not be saved and was amputated.

The driver and the child were first taken to a hospital in São Gabriel do Oeste and later transferred to the Santa Casa hospital in Campo Grande due to the seriousness of the injuries. Police investigations are underway to determine the circumstances of the crash and any criminal responsibility for the alleged alcohol consumption before driving.
