2026 Asian Games torch relay events held in Aichi Prefecture

Preparations for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi and Nagoya continue with various torch relay events across the region.

In Toyohashi, a collaborative relay involving local nursery, elementary, and junior high school students took place at Maeshiba Junior High School. The event featured professional figure skater Akiko Suzuki, a Toyohashi native, as a PR runner. A total of 16 runners, including 15 junior high students, carried the flame, supported by local residents and students from neighboring schools.

Additionally, employees from Chubu Centrair International Airport participated as torchbearers. Four staff members from the airport and its related companies were selected through a public recruitment process to run in Handa, Agui, Tokoname, and Tokai cities during late August and early September. The airport serves as an official sponsor for the upcoming games, focusing on enhancing services for athletes and visitors.
