2026 BRICS Summit Set for New Delhi, Hosts Xi, Putin, Iran President

India will host the BRICS Summit 2026 in New Delhi on September 12‑13 under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” High‑profile leaders – Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian – are expected to attend, with separate bilateral meetings planned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The summit comes amid heightened Iran‑UAE tensions over the West Asia conflict and divergent views on Palestine, putting India’s mediating role to the test. Xi’s visit will mark his first trip to India since 2019, and the event also includes Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman as BIMSTEC chair, highlighting New Delhi’s diplomatic prominence.
