2026 FIFA World Cup fan engagement trends and Hisense ticket giveaway in Japan

WSC Sports released a report on fan behaviour ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, analysing supporters in the three host nations – the United States, Canada and Mexico. The study found that around 90 % of Mexican fans watch matches on multiple devices, while multi‑screen viewing rates are lower in the United States (42 %) and Canada (46 %). Fans increasingly interact via group chats, real‑time social‑media posts, short‑form videos and highlights, prompting rights‑holders and brands to adopt region‑specific streaming and sponsorship strategies.

In Japan, Hisense, an official World Cup sponsor, launched a television‑based campaign using the VIDAA operating system. From 1 June to 7 June 2026, owners of VIDAA‑compatible Hisense TVs could scan an on‑screen QR code to enter a draw for tickets to the Japan vs Sweden match. Six winning entries (12 tickets) receive match‑day passes, while ten participants receive official World Cup merchandise. Winners are announced on 8 June, and travel‑related expenses are not covered.

Both initiatives highlight how digital platforms and targeted promotions are being used to sustain and grow soccer interest across North America and Japan as the tournament approaches.
