American League defeats National League 4-0 in 2026 MLB All-Star Game
The 96th MLB All-Star Game was played on July 14, 2026 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. The American League won 4–0, recording its first shutout in an All‑Star contest since 2013 and only the eighth shutout in the event’s history. Starting pitcher Dylan Cease opened the game for the AL and, together with eleven relievers, struck out 15 National League batters while allowing just three hits.
Cody Bellinger’s two‑run single in the first inning, followed by Ben Rice’s RBI single, gave the AL a three‑run lead. Miguel Vargas added a solo homer in the eighth for the final run. Bellinger was named the game's MVP, becoming the fourth New York Yankee to earn the honor. Philadelphia’s Cristopher Sánchez started for the National League, which was limited to three hits and could not generate a run.
The game featured 29 All‑Star debuts, including Yordan Álvarez, Kyle Schwarber and several internationally‑born players. Seven Cuban players participated, setting a new record for the most Cubans in a single All‑Star Game. Notable absences due to injury included Aaron Judge, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Shohei Ohtani and others.
