2030 FIFA World Cup hosts grant automatic berths to four nations eliminated from 2026

FIFA announced that the 2030 World Cup will be staged across six host countries—Paraguay, Morocco, Portugal, Uruguay, Spain and Argentina—spanning three continents. Under the tournament rules, each host nation receives an automatic place in the group stage, meaning the four teams that failed to qualify for the 2026 edition—Uruguay, Paraguay, Portugal and Morocco—are now guaranteed participation in 2030.

Despite their secured spots, the football associations of Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay confirmed they will still compete in the CONMEBOL qualifying process for 2030. Paraguayan FA president Robert Harrison said the qualifiers will keep the teams match‑fit and could improve future earnings by offering more competitive fixtures against European sides.
