20Bet and online sportsbooks do not require Canadian SIN
Online betting platforms like 20Bet utilize Know Your Customer (KYC) protocols to verify identities, confirm residency, and satisfy anti-money-laundering regulations. These checks are typically required before a user can withdraw funds.
In Canada, sportsbooks do not require a Social Insurance Number (SIN). While the Canada Revenue Agency requires SINs for entities that report income, such as banks or digital platforms for sellers, sportsbooks do not fall into these categories. Under PIPEDA, organizations cannot withhold services if a user refuses to provide a SIN that is not legally required for that specific service.
