20th Century Studios announces thriller ‘Englouti’

20th Century Studios and Imagine Entertainment are releasing the thriller ‘Englouti’ (Whalefall), based on the novel by Daniel Kraus. Directed by Brian Duffield, the film is scheduled for an exclusive theatrical release on October 14.

The story follows Jay Gardiner, played by Austin Abrams, who searches for his missing father, portrayed by Josh Brolin, off the coast of California. During a deep-sea dive, Jay is swallowed by a sperm whale and must find a way to survive with only one hour of oxygen remaining.

Director and co-screenwriter Brian Duffield noted that the cast and crew spent the summer filming inside a whale to bring the novel to life. The film also stars Elisabeth Shue, John Ortiz, Jane Levy, and Emily Rudden.
