20th Turkish History Congress begins in Ankara
The 20th Turkish History Congress has commenced at the Atatürk Culture, Language, and History High Institute campus. The event follows a tradition dating back to 1932, when the first congress was held under the direction of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
Prof. Dr. Haluk Selvi, President of the Turkish Historical Society, emphasized that historical evaluations should be based on documents, criticism, and scientific responsibility rather than current political debates or global tensions. He noted that the society aims to integrate Turkish historiography with the global scientific community.
The opening proceedings included the inauguration of several exhibitions, including the Alacahöyük Exhibition, the National Struggle Exhibition, and an exhibition dedicated to the Turkish Historical Society and its congresses.
