20‑year‑old arrested for burglary at Euronics store in Portoferraio, Italy
On the night of 23 July 2026, a burglary – known locally as a “spaccata” – was carried out at the Euronics electronics store in Portoferraio on the island of Elba. The perpetrator forced entry through the front door and smashed the display case of mobile phones.
Carabinieri from the Portoferraio company investigated the incident after a 112 emergency call. Video‑surveillance analysis revealed the suspect used only his left hand to wield the tool. The investigation focused on a 20‑year‑old local resident already known to police. Subsequent searches recovered the clothing, gloves and the tool used in the theft, all of which were seized.
The young man was formally charged with aggravated theft and was placed under judicial authority while remaining at liberty.
