212 brand prepares X03 diesel SUV for potential Australian market
Chinese off-road brand 212 is expanding its lineup with the X03, a new body-on-frame SUV designed to compete with models like the Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series. According to Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology filings, the X03 is a large five-seat SUV measuring 5095mm in length and 2038mm in width.
The vehicle is expected to feature a 2.3-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine sourced from Dongfeng, producing 140kW of power. While the X03's specific availability in Australia is unconfirmed, a company spokesperson indicated that next-generation models will be developed with right-hand drive capability.
212 is part of the Qingdao-based BAW, a manufacturer of civilian and military vehicles. The brand has previously expressed intentions to enter various international markets, including Europe, South America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
