24-year-old arrested in Reggio Emilia for breaching restraining order

A 24‑year‑old man from the province of Reggio Emilia was placed under a court‑ordered restraining measure in February, requiring him to stay at least 2,000 metres away from his former girlfriend, avoid any contact and wear an electronic monitoring bracelet.

Despite the order, he repeatedly approached the woman’s home and workplace, damaged her car, sent threatening messages, and physically assaulted her in shared and public spaces. Police gathered evidence, including witness statements and the threatening texts, and the prosecutor requested stricter action.

A judge revoked the original restraining order and imposed a custodial precaution. The man was subsequently arrested by Carabinieri, taken to the Reggio Emilia detention house, and will remain in custody pending further judicial proceedings.
