251‑Foot Tricolour Kanwar Draws Attention on Haridwar‑Baghpat Pilgrimage

Devotees on the Kanwar Yatra carried a 251‑foot‑long tricolour‑themed Kanwar from Haridwar in Uttarakhand to Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh. The massive Kanwar, over 11 feet high, became a focal point of the pilgrimage, symbolising national pride and honoring India’s martyrs. Around a dozen Kanwariyas, including Harendra Kumar and Deepak Chaudhary, collected holy Ganga water at Har Ki Pauri before beginning the roughly 200 km journey. Along the route they received support from local police and Shiva devotees, while also urging youth to stay away from drugs and alcohol. The colourful display highlighted both religious devotion and a patriotic message of unity and discipline.

The participants reported warm receptions in the towns they passed, with locals offering flowers and hospitality. Some Kanwariyas noted occasional police harassment, but overall the event underscored a blend of spiritual tradition and national solidarity during the monsoon‑season pilgrimage.
