3-Year-Old in Thanh Hóa Falls Into Coma After Intervention Center Session

A boy near three years old from Hai Binh ward, Thanh Hóa province, was placed in a coma after attending a special‑needs intervention centre on 10 July. He was found with bruising on his right rib cage, difficulty breathing and multiple internal injuries, including pancreatic and splenic damage, rib fractures, internal bleeding, respiratory and circulatory failure. He was first taken to the provincial children's hospital and later transferred to the National Children's Hospital for intensive care.

The child's mother reported the incident to police and local authorities, alleging abuse at the centre. Investigations revealed the centre, run by Ms H. T. H., had no operating licence or registration documents. The Thanh Hóa Department of Education and Training has asked the local government to suspend the centre’s activities while police continue the inquiry.
