30 Trichinosis Cases Confirmed in Villa Gutiérrez, Córdoba
The Córdoba Ministry of Health has confirmed a trichinosis outbreak in Villa Gutiérrez, Ischilín department, with 30 reported cases linked to the consumption of pork sausages. Three patients are hospitalized for observation while the remaining cases are being monitored on an outpatient basis.
Epidemiological investigations indicate the infections occurred among family and friends who ate the same pork products, whose source is still under review. Health officials have warned the public against buying, selling, or consuming pork, wild boar or derived products of uncertain origin or without proper sanitary inspection, and have urged anyone with compatible symptoms to seek medical care. The investigation involves the Department of Zoonosis, the Directorate of Food, the Directorate General of Inspection, SENASA and local health and food safety authorities.
